Mata e Grifone in Giardino - H16

Our Moor's head family is growing: here are Mata and Grifone in the Garden.

This pair of Moorish heads from Caltagirone is born from a legend that speaks of an unrequited love that finally blossomed in Messina between a beautiful girl named Marta, Mata in dialect, and Grifone , a very tall Saracen soldier, devoted to piracy.

And it is thanks to love that Grifone changes his life, giving up his raids and becoming a man Mata could love. And finally, from this love, numerous children were born, and tradition holds that our characters are the ancestors of the inhabitants of Messina.

Crita continues her journey through the gardens of Sicily, bringing Mata and Grifone in Giardino to the stage. Lush and fragrant gardens have surrounded the delightful villas dotting our island for centuries. Gardens that smell of oranges , lemons , and sensual love stories consummated among the evergreen branches of these trees, a source of delight and beauty.

Topped with an elegant citrus crown, Mata and Grifone's turbans become even more lavish and regal. Two Moorish heads, crafted with beauty and nature, are a feat only Caltagirone ceramics can achieve. The citrus fruits embrace each other with leaves and circle our sultans, adorning them with the most beautiful crown possible.

Mata and Grifone in Giardino are, as always with the Crita collections, entirely handmade in Caltagirone . The pure and elegant Crita style is embodied in these new Caltagirone Moor's heads, which we've designed to be perfect as tableware holders, pen holders, and, of course, flower holders. Our Mata and Grifone in Giardino are now ready. From the gardens of Sicily to your home, it will be a very short journey.
