Solimano d'India - Crita Ceramiche di Caltagirone

Solimano d'India - H36

A new pair of Moorish heads has been created in Crita's kilns. Solimano and Roxelana d'India are proof of how Caltagirone's heads can constantly reinvent themselves, looking at the world through Sicilian eyes.

They're from India, but which of the many? An exotic fruit named after the great Asian country but actually hailing from the great American empires, and which, with its sweetness and its thorny " armor ," has become, over the centuries, one of the symbols of Sicily.

The Sicilian countryside is dotted with this succulent plant that grows lushly, adapting to all conditions. From the barren Sicilian lands, we have collected the colorful figs that paint the landscapes of our island, to make a crown on the heads of Suleiman and Roxelana.

With the same calm that is needed to harvest the fruit, the prickly pears in our crowns are, with patience and care, shaped one by one to crown Suleiman and Roxelana with colorful ceramic fruits.

As always, the color study we undertake for each of our creations is intriguing and experimental: they are the colors of Sicily that we seek out, test, and bring into your homes.

Sciacca Coral , Montalbano Green , Monforte Granata , Falconara Sand and Peloritani White are a chromatic journey to the most fascinating island in the Mediterranean: Sicily.

We are Crita, we are Caltagirone, we are Sicily.
