Lemmi - Crita Ceramiche di Caltagirone

Lemmi

Crita was looking for a centerpiece that embodied the Sicilian spirit that our Caltagirone ceramics always embody. A centerpiece that combined tradition with a contemporary touch.

A look at the rich Sicilian production and here the ' Lemmi ' were born. The lemmo is a symbol of history , culture , and tradition that, as often happens in Sicily, has Arab origins. An everyday object that, in the past, was shallow. Traditionally used for kneading bread , it was embellished with floral, fruit, or geometric motifs.

Crita's touch is evident in the lemma shapes and the monochrome colors chosen for these tableware. Handles, like bows, encircle the tall, curved rim of our lemmas. Intense yet delicate colors , such as green, reminiscent of the Madonie forests, and pink, reminiscent of Sciacca coral.

The heart of our lemmas is intentionally left terracotta-colored. A layer of transparent enamel gives them the brilliance of crystal and reveals the material they are made of.
The contrast between color and bare earth creates an effect of extreme power and simplicity. Designed to embellish the home and be functional, Crita's lemmas are rigorously handmade in our beloved Caltagirone , the city of ceramics.
